Charitable Foundation No: 116983.
The origins of PeerTalk go back to a community care initiative founded with the generosity of many in 2014 to support people living with depression. Today we operate as a registered charity running a national network of volunteer-facilitated face-to-face peer support groups for adults experiencing poor mental health.
Everyone experiences low points in their mental wellbeing, but not everyone has access to a strong support network. Our sessions provide a confidential and non judgmental space to share personal experiences and coping strategies. Our meetings offer a lifeline for many: possibilities arise when judgment is absent. Peers break down barriers together and rediscover personal strengths.
There is a chronic shortfall in NHS services for mental health needs. Support is variable, with extensive waiting lists. Additionally it is time restricted which doesn’t always meet the needs of the individual, leading to further referrals and further waiting lists.
PeerTalk’s weekly walk-in sessions provide continuous and unlimited support. Our face-to-face peer format is well-proven; sessions are productive, supportive and inspiring.
If you would like to give back to the community by helping people regain lost equilibrium, you may consider leaving a legacy to PeerTalk in your will. Every penny will go a long way in our low cost, highly effective support service. Without generous funding our dedication to mental health would not be possible.
