Registered Charity No: 206524 (England & Wales).
The Actors’ Benevolent Fund was founded in 1882 by Sir Henry Irving to care for actors and actresses unable to work because of accidents, illness or old age.
The Fund helps in a variety of ways, all of which are geared towards maintaining independence and improving quality of life.
We offer support and advice applying for state benefits, and modest financial grants that help people with day-to-day costs.
Legacies have held a vital position in the financial foundation of the Actors’ Benevolent Fund (ABF) since its inception. This enduring support from the community of actors and theatre enthusiasts has allowed the ABF to fulfil its mission of providing critical assistance to actors and stage managers facing the capricious nature of their profession.
A legacy or gift in your will to the Actors’ Benevolent Fund represents a profound commitment to the well-being and livelihoods of those dedicated to the acting profession. Actors and stage managers frequently confront financial insecurity due to the uncertain trajectory of their careers, and the ABF plays a pivotal role in offering crucial aid during times of need. By including the fund in your will, you ensure that your generosity continues to make a lasting impact long after you’ve passed on. These legacies fortify the ABF’s capacity to extend financial support, welfare assistance, and vital resources to individuals navigating the challenges inherent in the acting profession.
