Here’s a shock appointment for you: Gordon Ramsay is the new director of enforcement for the SRA.

Fortunately for the nation’s Colps and Cofas, it won’t be the foul-mouthed chef Ramsay ranting down the phone at them, but the altogether calmer (though we imagine, not as handy with a frying pan) former OFT man Ramsay.

Still, it conjures up a nice image of a quivering solicitor pleading for mercy while a white-coated Scotsman tells them their compliance platter is ****ing useless. We’ll bet the cooking Ramsay is not such a fan of outcomes-focused regulation in his kitchen.
