The Law Society has promoted Robert Khan to head a 140-strong directorate incorporating public affairs, legal and regulatory policy, communications, international and relationship management.
The former director of public affairs and head of law reform takes up the position immediately. As executive director of external affairs he becomes part of a five-strong executive leadership team at Chancery Lane led by interim chief executive Paul Tennant.
‘I’m delighted to be appointed to this post, which has been created to ensure the Law Society’s work co-ordinates even more effectively across these disciplines,’ said Khan.
‘At the heart of all our work is the solicitor profession and the shared belief in access to justice for all citizens. But I’m also deeply conscious of the fact that Britain is going through a period of great change and the capacity of the Law Society to convene expertise as the Brexit negotiations proceed will help support their success.’
Khan joined the Law Society in 2009.
