Commercial and corporate law firm Berkeley Rowe has appointed Tim Thomas as partner and head of regulatory, white-collar crime and investigations.
Thomas spent 13 years defending fraud cases at the bar before he was seconded to the regulatory investigations department in the FCA's enforcement division. He then went on to advise on insider dealings, market abuse and breach of FSMA investigations as part of the criminal prosecutions team.
Thomas has advised individuals and corporates under investigation (both pre and post charge) by the SFO, FCA, ICO, NCA, HMRC, CoLP and US DoJ. He also advises clients in asset forfeiture including unexplained wealth orders, account freezing orders, cash forfeiture and restraint.
Berkeley Rowe chief executive officer Tom Keya commented: 'I am delighted to welcome Tim on board. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge from both sides of the spectrum. As a firm we have already acted on a number of high profile regulatory matters for our clients. Tim’s addition will solidify an already growing practice.'
Thomas added: 'I am very excited to be joining such a dynamic team of experienced lawyers and building a practice that compliments Berkeley Rowe’s core strengths in commercial litigation, real estate and corporate.'
He will be based at the firm’s Mayfair office.
