Mr Pearlman repeats the proposal from some years ago that solicitors should acquire the title of ‘doctor’.
I repeat the response I gave then. The technical grounding in law that we acquire to practise is far removed from the theoretical investigation of juridical concepts involved in studying for a doctorate. If he covets the title and has the academic qualifications for acceptance on a course, Mr Pearlman could submit a thesis and assume the title in about six years, studying part-time.
