Armstrong, Fitzgerald, Davis: they all left incredible legacies to jazz. Pass on your love of jazz to the next generation and help us secure the future of British jazz by leaving a gift to NYJO in your will.
Sadly, jazz is underfunded – and jazz education infrastructure underdeveloped – compared to other musical genres. The educational and social benefits gained by young people who make music are well understood, but we know that jazz brings additional benefits in terms of teamwork, communication, and self-expression.
Also known as the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, NYJO has been developing the talents of emerging professional musicians since 1965. Our alumni include Amy Winehouse, Laura Jurd, Guy Barker, Strictly Come Dancing MD Dave Arch and many more household names. We now work with musicians at all stages of their musical journey, breaking down barriers to accessing this wonderful music, and unlocking the inherent creativity of young people aged 11-25. We reach over 3,000 young people and an audience of over 12,000 per year. However our work is limited by resources.
Our Arts Council England grant and earned income fund less than 1/3 of what we do. That’s why we need your support. Leaving us a gift in your will can help us to ensure every young person can reach their potential through jazz.
NYJO is a charity, which means any legacy gift can offer significant tax benefits. For more information, please visit: www.nyjo.org.uk
