The US has become the latest target of DAC Beachcroft’s international expansion plans as the City firm announced it is opening offices in New York and Los Angeles – its third and fourth new international offices in nine months.
DAC Beachcroft opened an office in Peru in May, followed by Hong Kong in September. Its US offices, which open on 1 January, will bring together insurance-focused teams – including four partners and 26 other lawyers and staff – from US firms Vogrin & Frimet and Robinson+Cole.
DAC Beachcroft’s managing partner David Pollitt said: ‘Continuing our international expansion is one of the key elements of our strategy. Being able to establish operations in the thriving US legal market not only satisfies a key client demand within our insurance practice, but also gives potential for our clients across other areas of our business to benefit from our presence in the US market.’
The firm has a 'representative office' in Miami. It is also a founding member of Legalign Global, an alliance of four law firms ‘working as one’ for multinational insurers, brokers and businesses. US firm Wilson Elser is one of the other alliance members.
Asked if DAC Beachcroft will continue its affiliation with Wilson Elser under the alliance, the firm told the Gazette: ‘We have a very strong relationship with our Legalign network partner Wilson Elser in the US, and this will continue. We will continue to work with them to ensure our clients have full coverage across the US, beyond New York and California, as and when they need it.’
