The Law Society has identified three areas of concern to be tackled in relation to its TA6 property information form after receiving more than 1,200 responses to a consultation.
The TA6 form was updated last year to support National Trading Standards guidance on ‘material information’ required for property listings. However, with the guidance dividing opinion, the Society paused compulsory use of the latest version in order to engage with members.
Some 1,232 practitioners signed up to take part in the consultation, which has included a survey, in-depth interviews, research-led group discussions, deep dive online webinars, workshops and roundtables.
In an update yesterday, the Society said the consultation produced a large amount of 'rich and detailed feedback'. It is now working with independent research agency 2CV to analyse the findings.
It will address three areas of specific concern: complexity and length; difficulty with specific questions; and a desire for training and resources for conveyancers and sellers.

Conveyancers can currently use the TA6 (4th edition, second revision) (2020) or TA6 (fifth edition, 2024).
Acknowledging the ‘wider complexities’ of conveyancing and difficulties introducing change, the Society said it will ensure there is an implementation period so conveyancers can become familiar with any changes, clear guidance notes and training, and user testing.
