A big month for global legal charity Law Rocks!, with gigs in Dubai, London and Manchester. Alas, Obiter could make only one, the battle of five bands playing ‘unplugged’ at The Bedford in South London.

Well done to The Rudnicks, made up of five lawyers from US, London and Paris firm Brown Rudnick, for taking the trophy. Corporate associate Peter Wozny (pictured, vocals) set up the band with Nick Vasquez (guitar) when he joined the firm four years ago. Also performing last week were corporate associate Sayjel Revell (vocals), litigation associate Gerald Byrne on piano and accordion, and IP associate Ruth Arkley (flute and piano). Five other colleagues also play on occasions such as staff parties and weddings, Wozny says.

The effort supports ‘a brilliant charity called LIFEbeat’ which helps young people from deprived backgrounds by giving them skills and inspiration to overcome their challenges and to lead confident, healthy and purposeful lives.

Meanwhile, family lawyer John Osborne, director of north-west firm Harrison Drury, says a great time was had at the inaugural Law Rocks Manchester event. His band, Harrison Fury, took the prize – a gig at London’s 100 Club next year. All proceeds went to support local charity Forever Manchester.
