A firm of English solicitors based in Israel expanded this month, claiming that its unusual model is proving appealing to clients.

Asserson Law Offices was launched in 2005 in Jerusalem by City firm Bird & Bird's former head of international litigation, Trevor Asserson. The firm has now grown to seven partners and one consultant, and advises on corporate and commercial transactions. It has just hired former Addleshaw Goddard real estate partner David Prais.

Mr Asserson said: 'This firm provides a model, which has grown dramatically and which demonstrates that City-quality advice can be provided from a lower cost base outside the UK.'
