Magic circle firm Clifford Chance has elected Malcolm Sweeting to serve a second four-year term as senior partner.
Global finance specialist Sweeting, a partner since 1990, said: ‘It has become clear over the last four years that the world is going through a period of prolonged and fundamental change (driven by) shifting trade and capital flows in the global economy, technology, the profusion of regulation alongside increasing governmental intervention in business, and continuing globalisation.’
Sweeting added that ‘the legal landscape is not immune to change’ and that clients are increasingly challenging the firm to ‘innovate and adapt’.
Clifford Chance generated revenues of £1.4bn in 2013-14 and has some 3,200 lawyers in offices across the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Sweeting will continue to chair the firm’s partnership council.
