A senior City lawyer convicted of driving a motor vehicle at a member of the public has avoided any fine or restriction on his practising certificate.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority said today it had issued Boris Bronfentrinker, admitted in 2008, with a rebuke and ordered him to pay £420 costs. The solicitor, a partner with Wilkie Farr & Gallagher (UK) LLP in the Square Mile, drove the vehicle at a member of the public in January 2019 with an intention to scare them. He was convicted at Southwark Crown Court in 2021 of dangerous driving and banned from driving until another test was passed. He was also ordered to pay a fine of £2,500, victim surcharge of £170 and costs of £2,000.
The SRA found that by his conduct Bronfentrinker failed to behave in a way that maintains the trust the public places in him and in the provision of legal services. No further details were provided about the context, or what mitigation was offered. Press reports at the time of the conviction said the incident was sparked by an argument about parking outside a children's nursery in London.
Bronfentrinker is a partner in Willkie’s litigation and antitrust & competition practices in London. He is a solicitor advocate practising in complex commercial litigation, with particular experience in competition litigation including a landmark £14bn claim against Mastercard.
