Every living creature ages over time, we all have that in common. But does it make sense to study human aging by using animals such as mice? Mice have an average life expectancy of about 2 years (about 2% that of humans). Animals do not suffer from the same age and lifestyle-related conditions as humans, yet they are routinely used to study human conditions where age is a known factor.

Worldwide, it’s believed over 100 million animals are used for science every year and in 2023, 2.68 million experiments used animals in British labs. Some of these animals are specifically bred for research and some are captured from their native habitats. None of them live a natural life.

While animal research has been the scientific standard for hundreds of years, we’re here to challenge that. We believe scientific progress can be achieved without causing harm to animals.

That’s why at Replacing Animal Research we’re so committed to a future where no animal suffers for science.

One of the best ways you can help us achieve this future is by leaving us a gift in your will. A gift of any size will help us fund better, non-animal methods. Help us create a better future, for animals and humans.
