Our work

Redwings is the largest horse sanctuary in the UK. They care for more horses each day than anyone else.

Rescue
Redwings have been rescuing horses in need for over 30 years. They rescue more than 200 horses every year who have been abandoned, neglected or whose owners can no longer care for them.

Rehabilitation
Many horses come to Redwings from situations of terrible neglect or even cruelty. Others may never have encountered a human being at all. Redwings’ specialist rehabilitation programme teaches them to trust humans.

Care
Redwings’ horse care teams and vets look after over 1,500 horses every day, many of whom need extra special care. The rescued horses who cannot be ridden or rehomed, whether that’s for health or behavioural reasons, will always have a safe and loving home within the Sanctuary.

Rehoming
Redwings’ rehoming teams work hard to match horses with potential new families who can offer them a loving home outside the Sanctuary. The charity has over 500 horses living out in caring Guardian homes.

Education
Redwings works with schools, colleges and horse owners from all backgrounds to improve and promote the welfare of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules.
