Registered Charity No: 1100949 (England & Wales).
LATCH is a charity that supports the children who are receiving treatment for cancer at the Children’s Hospital for Wales, as well as their families.
Having a child diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia comes as a devastating blow, often resulting in a period of months, sometimes years, of gruelling treatment and an uncertain future.
LATCH understands the financial and emotional burden faced by families caring for a sick child, as well as dealing with the logistics of family life.
LATCH provides home from home family accommodation in the hospital, free of charge, to keep families together during their child’s stay.
LATCH funds activities and treats to help boost morale and keep the children occupied during treatment. When in hospital, children especially miss the stimulation and structure of their normal daily lives.
LATCH provides the funding for a dedicated team of four social workers who specialise in the issues facing the families of children receiving treatment for cancer and leukaemia.
LATCH funds specialist medical equipment for the Paediatric Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital for Wales as well as a range of clinical projects to help make the lives of children more comfortable on the wards, at home and in the community.
LATCH relies on donations from the general public to ensure the children and their families are offered support when they need it most.
