If he resigned then his contract ended at the acceptance of the resignation and there could be no disciplinary process and he could not be dismissed either with or without notice.

If he offered his resignation and this was not accepted then he could be disciplined and dismissed.

These are not the same thing at all.

Perhaps the LeO can release the letter confirming the basis of the termination of the contract to the Select Committee.

If there have been statements which are, ahem, inconsistent with the facts of that letter we can then go on to consider what if any steps should be taken against those who made these inconsistent statements.
