Anonymous at 3.50pm - you do realise that you COULDN’T hire a babysitter, right, it would have been illegal?? That’s the WHOLE POINT! I’m not a single mother, but my husband works in a critical role in the NHS, so couldn’t share childcare burden, save for looking after the children once he got home so I could then spend all evening and some of the night working to make up for the time I’d spent home-schooling a 4 and 6 year old all day. I would have done anything to ‘pay someone £10 an hour to help’ and had family who would have gladly done so for free, but it would have been in breach of the lockdown!!
