At a recent meeting called by the law society in Newcastle, which was attended by a lady from the MOJ, I told her how you work out which firms are the dishonest ones, by simply looking at the data they have for the legal aid take of firms, between police station, magistrates and Crown Court. It’s the big Crown Court cases that keep us all in business, and they are the ones that the dishonest firms seek to obtain. So if a firm has basically no police station work and no magistrates work but a large amount of Crown Court work, doesn’t that tell you something??
