Many Court users, expected to have access to the Internet or be proficient with modern computer technology, let alone own or have access to a computer with the correct programmes, are going to be at a very considerable disadvantage and their access to justice adversely affected.

As for criminal defendants who don’t have a cjsm account, have not been released on bail or who don’t have/don’t qualify for legal aid, I wonder how they will get access to CPS (etc.) documentation?

This rush to use new technology looks good on paper and may well apply to certain types of case, but it doesn’t look as if the MoJ has fully thought things through.

And don’t get me started on video-linked hearings which dehumanise a criminal defendant ...
