A Manchester personal injury firm has created a smartphone app to help deal with fee cuts – and now it wants to sell the tool to other firms.

Aequitas Legal today launches the InCase app, which takes clients through every step of their claims process and allows 24-hour exchange of information.

Managing partner Sucheet Amin (pictured) said he created the app in response to the government’s decision to cut fixed recoverable costs for low-value claims.

He told the Gazette the app can reduce costly phone queries from clients by updating them on the progress of their claim, potentially saving thousands of pounds a month.

‘I realised that I needed to ensure that we could continue to service our clients’ queries but also limit, and ideally reduce, the firm’s non-recoverable WIP levels,’ he said.

‘Although some clients still prefer to call the office and speak to the fee-earner with conduct of their claim – and of course we are always happy to take their call – we’ve found most of our clients turn to the app when they have questions. We still have happy clients, and we now have more time to spend on billable work.’

The cost of installing the app ranges from £447 to £947.
