International firm Fieldfisher is to merge with Spanish full service firm Jausas thus adding two offices in Spain, the firm has confirmed.
The merger, set to take effect from tomorrow, will be structured under a Swiss Verein model. The new Spanish offices - in Madrid and Barcelona - will bring the total number of Fieldfisher offices to 24. The Spain offices will be known as Fieldfisher Jausas.
Jausas is a top-30 firm in Spain with 14 partners and 60 lawyers. Turnover last year was €8.5m (£7.6m).
Its key practice areas include corporate, competition, life sciences, litigation and arbitration, tax, employment, and intellectual property.
Michael Chissick, managing partner, Fieldfisher, said: ‘Spain has one of the fastest growing economies in Europe and is the fourth largest economy in the Eurozone. It’s where an increasing number of our clients are doing business and where we have for some time been looking to establish offices in line with our strategy to be in all the major commercial centres of Europe.’
Agustín Bou, Jausas’s managing partner, added: ‘Fieldfisher Jausas is a merger that reinforces our national and international presence and adds value to our team and clients’.
