Lawyers! Fed up with being catapulted into the unknown with no safety net? Why not consider a career as a human cannonball? At least there’s something to catch you on the way down.
Oxford law graduate Gary Stocker (pictured) says he has packed in a six-figure salary at an international legal recruitment consultancy to become another kind of big shot: at Chaplin’s Circus. He picked up the performing bug at the age of 15, doing a street comedy magic show in Covent Garden, London, before taking a break to read law at St John’s College, Oxford.
You can catch Chaplin’s Circus in Saffron Walden, Essex, in August. Its website offers an exciting employment opportunity. ‘You must be flexible, and comfortable travelling at great speeds. Last performer sadly had to retire on health grounds.’ At least he didn’t get fired. Again.
