Olivier Award winner and Oscar nominee Tom Conti is juror number eight, the role made famous by Henry Fonda, in the stage production of Twelve Angry Men which goes on tour this month.

It plays in Guildford this week, Dublin next and Salford from 23-28 March. The play follows 12 jurors who hold a life in their hands as they decide the fate of a young delinquent accused of killing his father. But what appears to be an open and shut case soon becomes a dilemma, as the jurors’ prejudices and preconceived ideas turn the tables, until the nail-biting climax…

Obiter has two tickets to give away for a Salford performance. To enter, we’d like readers to recall the late Tony Hancock’s take on the saga, especially his memorable line: ‘Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?’

The best one-liner involving a mistranslation of ‘Magna Carta’ emailed to obiter@lawsociety.org.uk by midday Friday 13 March will win the tickets.
