Last night saw the return of BBC drama The Split, about the messy world of family law, and the Series 3 opener did not disappoint: not least because of a special guest appearance from the Gazette. Not one, but two print editions of this publication appear at the start of the episode, in the reception of fictional law firm Noble Hale Defoe.

Gazette front cover on The Split

The Gazette’s print edition has appeared again in the BBC drama

Fans may recall the Gazette made its acting debut in Series 2, with matriarch Ruth Defoe appearing on the front page alongside the headline ‘World Class’. This time, another divorce lawyer (played by Anna Chancellor) features on the cover, alongside the headline ‘A Class Act’.The latest series appears to be set a few months before the Gazette went fully digital.

The new series is also reportedly the last - a shame, as Obiter would have loved to have seen lead character and divorce lawyer Hannah Stern browse our latest weekly edition on her phone.
