Waleed Bakali, a senior solicitor at Zurich Insurance, has come up with a tasty campaign to help young schoolchildren understand what judges and lawyers do.
Bakali told the Westminster conference on diversity that he plans to hold mock trials for four-year-olds. He has already lined up the first case: is the Jaffa Cake a biscuit or a cake?
‘Be prepared for the brutal honesty of the four-year-old mock trial. Savages!’ commented one audience member.
Obiter predicts that more than one participant will insist on a taste test. Though, as biscuits (or cakes) go, we reckon the peerless Jaffa might be a tad bitter for the average infant’s palate.
