Conveyancers have been working under immense pressure for the last few months to complete transactions before stamp duty thresholds change on 1 April. What better way to mark the end of a stressful period than with a song, courtesy of Rose Davis, founder and director of Davis & Co Property Lawyers, who posted the following song on LinkedIn, to the tune of Gloria Gaynor's fabulous hit:
We Will Survive
At first I was afraid I was petrified
Looking at pending completions with my eyes opened wide
Then I felt so very low, wondering how it would all go
But I was wrong, the team are oh so very strong,
And now we're here, the end's in sight
We got our completions done, we can hold our heads up high
Despite all the stress we had, and the chasing we had to do
We got them through, we got them through,
And it took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Had to listen to my clients with their broken hearts
They couldn't afford higher fees, but what will be will certainly be
I had to save what strength I had for the files that were ready,
And now we're here, the end's in sight
We got our completions done, we can hold our heads up high
Despite all the stress we had, and the chasing we had to do
We got them through, we got them through,
And you see me, I'm someone new
I'm a little stronger now, after what we have been through
I would make more money painting nails, or perhaps a hairdresser too
But I just love conveyancing, I'm a lawyer through and through,
And now we're here, the end's in sight
We got our completions done, we can hold our heads up high
Despite all the stress we had, and the chasing we had to do
We got them through, we got them through,
We have survived, we have survived
Give yourself a little pat for getting through the other side
We have made some lovely friends and some enemies too
But overall we've helped our clients, the most important thing to do,
And now we're here, the end's in sight
We got our completions done, we can hold our heads up high
Despite all the stress we had, and the chasing we had to do
We got them through, we got them through.
Obiter wishes conveyancers a happy and relaxing weekend. Only one more working day to go.
