Obiter can reveal that cracks may be showing in the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s board over its policy of excluding journalists from regular meetings.

On their way to this week’s carefully-planned press briefing (some days after the actual board meeting) a couple of representatives of Her Majesty’s Press bumped into a board member who wished us a Merry Christmas. ’We don’t see you at our meetings anymore,’ they observed, to which one journalist replied: ‘Yes, but I can see why the decision was taken.’

‘Really? Perhaps you could tell me one day?’ came the reply.

Obiter is not identifying our sleeper agent on the board. We wouldn’t like them to meet with an accident.
