What’s the best way to get into Glastonbury if you miss out on the ballot? Solicitor Estella Newbold-Brown was so determined to make the festival despite not getting tickets that she volunteered to work on the site.

Newbold-Brown, partner and head of family law at London firm Amphlett Lissimore, will do three eight-hour bar shifts over the course of the event and can enjoy the rest of the festival in return.

A veteran of six Glastonburys, Newbold-Brown heard about the volunteering opportunity from a friend and completed online testing and training. She gets to stay in a mess tent, with meal tickets and money off drinks.

While she will be on shift until 3am on Friday morning and all day on Saturday, she has earmarked time to catch Kate Nash, Tha Vaccines, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Streets and Fatboy Slim.

Speaking from the site, she said: ‘Apart from the time I’m working and some bar training, I’m free to do what I want. I’ve been walking around, talking to people, having drinks and generally soaking up the amazing atmosphere.’
