A record 16,000 walkers took to the streets and parks of London in blazing sunshine this week for the biggest London Legal Walk in the event’s 19-year history. Lead walkers included the lord chancellor, lord chief justice and master of the rolls, along with the heads of professional bodies. Walkers represented every branch of the legal services sector.

The event, organised by the London Legal Support Trust, raises badly needed funds for free legal advice in London and the south-east. Law Society president Lubna Shuja said: ‘The legal help these charities provide to those in need is more important than ever given the cost-of-living crisis.’

So far, the event has raised over £750,000. However the trust said its fundraising pages will remain open for a further three months – so there is still plenty of time to ask friends and family for donations.
