A new portrait will soon join the ranks of sombre depictions of past presidents of the Law Society of England and Wales.
Artist Marina Trani last night unveiled her official portrait of I. Stephanie Boyce, president from 2012-2022. Boyce was the Society's first president of colour - and only the sixth woman in the role.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony at the London headquarters of magic circle firm Linklaters last night, Boyce revealed that she had been inspired to go into law by her experiences of living in the United States as a teenager. She paid tribute to her family and past tutors and stressed the importance of visible role models for the next generation of people entering the profession. Her message to them: 'Never give up.'
