Still in showbiz land, Alice Evans, a British-American film star (yes, we had to Google her, too) made headlines last week when she was temporarily kicked out of court for taking photos of her ex-husband, fellow thespian Ioan Gruffudd.

The child support hearing was being heard in Los Angeles, and though California’s court system is a bit different to ours, photography is apparently one thing we agree on.

Some good may come of Evans’ slip: the publicity provided an opportunity for lawyers over here to educate their own clients in court etiquette. Manchester firm McAlister Family Law even put out a press release listing notorious family court incidents.

One was last year’s grave attack on His Honour Judge Patrick Perusko. The other was the occasion when Heather Mills doused Sir Paul McCartney’s solicitor with a jug of water amid financial remedy proceedings.

Snapping your erstwhile spouse would seem to be a lesser offence, but any opportunity to spread the word about appropriate behaviour is welcome.
