Sol Bernstein, who describes himself as ‘the world’s oldest Jewish comedian’, will headline a variety show next weekend to raise funds for a Torah scroll in memory of criminal defence stalwart Julian Young, who died in 2021.
The show, sponsored by national firm Tuckers where Young was a consultant, will feature comics, magicians and classical musicians, including the Seion String Quartet, who have performed for the Emperor and Emperess of Japan and for King Charles at a state banquet.
Ticket sales will go towards the £40,000 needed for a Torah Scroll that will be inscribed in Young’s memory and kept in the only synagogue in Islington, the home of Arsenal supporter Young’s football club.
Tickets are available for an afternoon and evening performance of the show at Soho Sanctum Hotel on 3 November.
