Richard Bullock’s account of a prisoner’s endorsement (3 July) struck a chord with Michael Cohen of London. He writes: ‘It reminded me of a letter I received many years ago written on prisoners’ notepaper from Brixton Prison which began, “Dear Mr. Cohen, everyone here speaks most highly of you.” It made me wonder what they would have thought of me if I had got them off!’
