January may be regarded as a quiet month, but in terms of apparently random chosen days it’s positively brimming.
Hot on the heels of divorce day and blue Monday comes – courtesy of Insurance Fraud Bureau – Cash for Crash Awareness Day.
The blurb goes that today is most likely to be the day that motorists find themselves to be a victim of an induced collision.
Obiter certainly will not seek to make light of a crime which not only pushes our premiums up but places other drivers at risk.
But an arbitrary day? Obiter has yet to see any statistics from the IFB backing up the claim that today is more hazardous than any other. What a stroke of luck that it happened to fall on a day of the week when the media is looking out for stories to fill papers and bulletins. We look forward to a much safer and fraudster-free drive to work tomorrow.
