For any readers who didn’t glance at page 29 of last week’s Gazette, the security service MI5 is hiring lawyers. The qualities it seeks seem tailor-made for solicitors.
‘Due to the importance of the work, you will need to be a quick thinker, show balanced judgement, breadth of perspective and an appreciation of the policy context of the work.’ Check. ‘Honesty and integrity are crucial if you want to work at MI5.’ Check.
Online, the ad notes (somewhat obviously) that applicants ‘should not post on social media sites about their application’. Whether they should screw up and swallow any copy of that application is unclear.
