For those living under a rock this past week, today marks ‘no-fault divorce day’, when the law officially changes to allow a more amicable parting of the ways.

The trouble for the media is that this story has been doing the rounds for some time, and it’s not one where people affected are willing to come forward and be photographed.

Hence the reliance on stock images from photo agencies, typically showing a wedding cake cut in half or discarded rings.

But such has been the media interest in divorce in the last week, a fresh batch has been needed – and what a collection the agencies have provided. There is a new (fairly disturbing) one of a child grabbing at both parents to pull them together, a wedding figurine artistically photographed mid-smash, and the capturing-the-moment shot of a couple looking in different directions while wearing a face mask.

Perhaps the finest of the new images is the obligatory ‘facing away from each other in bed’ picture. The twist in this case? The estranged couple are a pair of dogs. They no longer call it puppy love, it would seem.
