Westminster may still be reverberating from last week’s shock news that Rob ‘who?’ Flello has quit as a shadow justice minister.

The MP for Stoke-on-Trent South disappeared from Labour’s front bench in what was assumed to be the start of a reshuffle.

Flello’s departure may not have caused a huge ruckus but he can at least take heart from managing to avoid the ‘spend more time with my family’ cliche.

Instead, the former accountant plans to ‘focus on my other parliamentary interests, particularly my role as chair of the all-party freight transport group’. This, he asserts, ‘is rapidly gaining recognition in the industry as a focus for the freight sector in parliament’. Obiter does wonder where, apart from parliament, a parliamentary freight transport group would gain recognition.

Good luck, Rob, and say hello to our friends the Stobart Group.
