Quite a few law firms these days have their own ‘in-house’ rock band, though on investigation it often turns out that most of the line-up consists of friends and relatives rather than lawyers. Not so The Devils Advocates, whose five members are all family lawyers: four from regional firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys plus one from St Philips Chambers in Birmingham.

A gig at Drummonds nightclub in Worcester raised £1,500 for Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Charitable Trust. Anita Hennessey, a senior associate in the family law team, provided the support act. The band’s repertoire ranges from Teenage Kicks and You’ve Got the Love, to Zombie and Lonely Boy.

Andy Caldicott, head of family law at Harrison Clark Rickerbys and Devils Advocates sticksman, said: ‘We had a great time rehearsing and the evening itself was really good fun – the crowd obviously enjoyed themselves and it raised a fantastic amount for some very good causes.’

We’d love to hear from more legal rockers: photos and (if you dare) sound clips to obiter@lawsociety.org.uk
