As a natural ally of the ostracised and oppressed, Obiter has a sneaking sympathy for the long-suffering yet phlegmatic fans of Leeds United. ‘If you expect nowt, you’re never disappointed,’ as they say in LS11. So we are moved to read an unexpectedly poignant tale about Quindell Legal Services setting up shop in the club’s hulking East Stand – built when the accident-prone Peacocks were actually quite decent (ie a long time ago).

Quindell has taken space once reserved for a new trophy room and museum – after sweeping away the tumbleweed, presumably.
