The third series of BBC show The Traitors returned with a bang last week but the production company has already begun the search for contestants to take part in the next run - and wants criminal lawyers to apply.

In her latest weekly update, Criminal Bar Association chair Mary Prior KC revealed an enquiry had been received from Studio Lambert, which is looking for a diverse range of participants.

For those unfamiliar with the show, contestants arrive at a castle in Scotland as ‘faithfuls’. However, some are selected by host Claudia Winkleman to play the game as ‘traitors’.

Faithfuls and traitors participate in group challenges to increase the prize pot. The faithfuls must work out who among them are the traitors and vote them out before the game ends. If they succeed, they win the money. Any traitors who make it to the end of the game walk away with the cash.

Obiter would love to see lawyers put their advocacy skills to the test to convince their fellow contestants they’re a faithful. And if a lawyer does make it into the next series, we will  of course provide regular updates.
