The 20th London Legal Walk began a new tradition this morning: a 10-kilometre race between distinguished members of the bar and the bench. Two teams, led by The Honourable Mr Justice Constable and bar chair Sam Townend KC, blazed a trail around one of the walk’s three routes.

The winner? Obiter clocked a combined Bar/Bench finish by the first three runners in just under 49 minutes, with all participants home within the hour.

The bar was represented by: Sam Townend KC (Keating) Zoë Vanhegan, Kate Riekstina of Rosecourt Chambers, Neil Hext KC (4 New Square) Michael Lemmy (Byrom Street).

For the bench, we had: The Honourable Mr Justice Constable, The Honourable Mr Justice Linden, The Honourable Mrs Justice Steyn DBE, The Right Honourable Lord Justice Haddon-Cave and The Honourable Mrs Justice Joanna Smith DBE

The main London Legal Walk begins this afternoon. The event raises funds for the London Legal Support Trust, which supports free legal advice agencies in London and the southeast. The Gazette is official media partner.
