Cake addict Obiter is looking forward to the sweetest fundraiser of the year, the Great Legal Bake, which this year runs from 10-14 February. The national bake sale is a chance for professionals to show off their baking ability in support of the London Legal Support Trust and the Access to Justice Foundation.
Last year, hundreds rose to the challenge, raising £36,500. There were marvellous creations, from Lady Hale cupcakes (no spiders in sight) to edible legal tomes. The Attorney General’s Office bake-off was a competitive affair judged by Robert Buckland QC MP – and a baker at the Royal Courts of Justice captured the lord chief justice in cake form.
Obiter would love to see photos of the profession’s creative efforts (obiter@lawsociety.org.uk). Though jokes about legal aid practitioners kneading dough will not be entertained.
