What joy, in allegedly the most depressing week of the year, to hear that the biggest fundraising event in the legal calendar, the London Legal Walk, is back. Put Monday 18 October in your diary now.
Organiser London Legal Support Trust, which raises funds to support free legal advice agencies in London and the south-east, says its services are now needed more than ever. Last year, restrictions arising from the pandemic meant in-person events could not take place.
The 10km sponsored walk through central London, which normally attracts thousands of walkers from across the legal community, will depart as usual from Carey Street.
If you can’t wait for that, the virtual London Legal 10xChallenge is back by popular demand in June this year as a 10-day event, from 5 June. In 2020, LLST’s virtual 10xChallenge saw people from across the legal community take on fun, socially distanced challenges from home, all based around the numbers 10, 100, 1000 and beyond. There were runners, swimmers, rowers, cake bakers, poets and more. Participants can explore the great outdoors with a run, cycle, swim, hike or kayaking adventure. Or if you’re not the sporty type, why not write 10 poems, bake 10, 100 or even 1,000 cupcakes, or put down your phone and switch off your TV for 10 tech-free evenings.
