The mother of a trainee barrister reported missing in Majorca has thanked the public for their support after he was found alive.
Ben Ross had gone to Palma City to take a break from his studies and found work with a local energy company, but went missing almost two weeks ago after a dispute with his flatmate.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help with the search and to pay for his family to travel out to the Spanish island, raising almost £4,000 in the process.
His mother Felix Robinson was reunited with Ross at the British Consulate yesterday and he is now being treated for dehydration and exhaustion.
Robinson said: ‘I’m so incredibly grateful for all the help and support we’ve received. Everyone has been truly incredible. We are so relieved to have found him and are now focussed on getting him back to full health and home safe and well.’
The family requested privacy while Ross, from Wigan, gets back to full strength and then arranges an emergency passport to get home. They thanked the media and public for their help in finding him. No details have been released about where Ross was during the 12 days he was missing.
His bag was stolen earlier this month with his phone, passport, iPad, wallet and keys to his flat. He had to break into his accommodation and was then threatened with eviction by his flatmate before he cut off communications with his family back home completely.
His mother travelled to Palma to appeal to residents and tourists for information and any sightings of her son.
It has been confirmed that donations to the GoFundMe set up by friends will be donated to mental health charity Andy’s Man Club once the family arrive home over the next week.
