Magic Circle firm Linklaters has met its stated target to ensure that at least 40% of lawyers promoted to partner are women for the fifth consecutive year.

Linklaters announced today that 34 lawyers had been promoted to partner. Of these, 14 are women, seeing the firm narrowly exceed the goal.

The promotions, which will be effective from 1 May, are an increase on last year, when 27 lawyers including 11 women were promoted. But it is fewer than the 2023 cohort, which saw 41 lawyers elevated to the partnership, including 17 women.

Aedamar Comiskey, senior partner, said she was ‘delighted to welcome this hugely impressive group to our partnership’.

‘I’ve seen first-hand their big ambitions and entrepreneurial mindset and look forward to seeing what they’ll achieve for our global clients and our firm’, Comiskey added. ‘Congratulations also go to our newly promoted counsel on hitting this terrific milestone.’

Meanwhile, national firm TLT has promoted seven lawyers, including three women, to partner. The firm has previously achieved a 33% women partner target, which these promotions maintain.

Senior partner Sasha Butterworth commented: ‘TLT has enjoyed another year of growth, creating further opportunities for our clients. One of the benefits of this is to be able to mark the success with the promotion of new partners and others across the firm. At TLT we provide people with a clearly defined career path and accelerate our exceptional performers. These promotions recognise the critical contributions our people make to our clients and the wider business.’
