Our firm recently received instructions from a client selling a leasehold residential flat. It quickly became apparent that her deeds were held by a firm who sadly had been the subject of an intervention by the SRA.

We approached the firm appointed to deal with the affairs of the firm, and were informed that the deeds and files were now held by the SRA’s intervention archives department.

Our client duly contacted the SRA by letter and received a response from the said department, informing her that the caseworker would be unable to process the request for approximately six weeks.

One wonders what view the SRA would take if we informed clients that there would be a delay of that amount of time to deal with such a simple request?
