The Law Society has begun a six-month consultation process on its TA6 property information form after postponing compulsory use of the latest version in order to engage with members.
The form was updated to support National Trading Standards guidance on ‘material information’ required for property listings.
Chancery Lane said the consultation will include:
- Engagement with conveyancing and legal groups, local law societies and Law Society licensees;
- An online survey to capture views on the wider policy changes in residential conveyancing, and views about the TA6 itself and experience of using the form;
- Focus groups with conveyancers to understand their current experiences of using both versions of the TA6 and to understand concerns on key areas of change;
- ‘Deep dive’ online webinars exploring key concerns, including liability and digitisation; and
- User experience testing of the new form.
2CV, an independent research agency, will carry out the direct member engagement exercises and survey, and analyse the feedback.
Society chief executive Ian Jeffery said: ‘We are committed to engaging with conveyancers across the country in the coming months to discuss issues relating to the new edition of the TA6 form. We want to hear from conveyancers who have used the forms and also those who haven’t and understand why they haven’t. We want to understand users’ experience and views of the TA6 form and its part in the wider conveyancing landscape and to identify improvements to the property form.’
The form is expected to be discussed at a special general meeting on 23 July called by solicitor-members of the Property Lawyers Action Group.
Conveyancing professionals wishing to participate in the independent research must sign up by Friday 16 August.
