Magic circle firm Slaughter and May has announced the appointment of six new partners – an increase on last year’s five. One of the six is female. The firm has set itself a global goal of a 40% female partnership by 2027; the current figure is 29%.

The six are Alex Bulfin (competition), Edward Couzens (restructuring and insolvency), David Griffith-Jones (corporate), Olga Ladrowska (disputes and investigations), Daniel Mewton (infrastructure, energy and natural resources) and Jack Wharton (corporate).

Roland Turnill, senior partner, said: ‘I am delighted to announce the election of six new partners. They will each bring valued experience and insight to their respective practice areas, the firm, and our clients.’

Last year, Slaughter and May appointed five new partners, the smallest cohort of recent years. The figure was a fall from 2023 when the firm made up 10 and 2022 when eight were promoted.

Currently, two thirds of Slaughter and May’s top executive team are women. The team consists of senior partner Roland Turnhill, managing partner Deborah Finkler, and chief operating officer Jill Hoseason. David Johnson will succeed Finkler from 1 August.
