I have been appearing in our local magistrates’ court for over 32 years.

I have recently had problems with a rather officious security officer.

The other day I went to speak to the prosecutor in the Crown Prosecution room.

The prosecutor invited me into the room and, while I was talking to him, this security officer came into the room and ordered me to leave, saying, ‘no one other than members of the Crown Prosecution Service is allowed to go into this room’.

The prosecutor thought the officer was joking and I just could not believe it. I told him I would not leave the room, at which point he said he would make a formal complaint to the court management.

The security officer was extremely aggressive in his manner and showed me no respect. It is clear he must have followed me to the room and had been listening at the door.

What is the world coming to?
